This week I (TJ) will be leading a short-term mission trip to New York City with a team of 32 youth and adults from North Carolina. This is an Adventure in Missions trip and and we will be working with a ministry called Operation Exodus located in Upper Manhattan.
We had 163 kids from age 4-14 that literally filled the sanctuary each morning. There were 45 adults and high school helpers.
The theme was Fixer Upper: Wait ’til You See What God Can Do. Children learned about the Tower of Babel, Zacchaeus, how Saul became Paul, and on the last day, they learned about Heaven, our eternal home.
Each morning the kids enjoyed a skit followed by the Bible story for the day. Then they went to the three churches for a rotation of crafts, music, recreation and a small group discussion of the story for the day.
Each church was decorated with lots of tools and construction items.
Almost $400 was collected for KidQuest which seemed like a good fit with our theme since they are doing a lot of remodeling.
